Volunteer Centre Angus offers training courses for volunteers, volunteer involving organisations, statutory and community bodies, young people and youth organisations.

Training Dates for August - December 2008

Induction to Volunteering

Venue - Fofar Academy, Community Education Wing
Dates - 27th August, 24th September, 29th October and 26th November
Time - 6.30pm - 8.30pm

Venue - Volunteer Centre Angus
Dates - 29th August, 26th September, 31st October and 28th November
Time - 10am - 12noon

The training includes: Identifying skills, volunteer roles, recruitment process, confidentiality, working safely, personal safety and guidance. These workshops are suitable for people of all ages and abilities who would like to volunteer in their community

Working with Vulnerable People

Venue - Volunteer Centre Angus
Date - 20th October
Time - 10am - 1pm

Aimed at volunteers working with vulnerable adults. Topics include - what is a vulnerable adult, recognising abuse and neglect, what to do if you see or suspect abuse, your responsibilities as a volunteer and legislation

Essential Committee Skills

Time - 6.30pm - 9pm

Aimed at volunteer committee members to help establish roles and responsibilities, setting agendas, minute taking and running effective meetings

Good Practice in Working with Young People

Venue - Volunteer Centre Angus
Date - 14th October
Time - 10am - 3pm

The course is aimed at volunteers, staff and Board members involved in working with young people. Areas will include - justice, ethics, equality, risk assessment, insurance, support and recognition

Key Skills for Volunteer Involving Organisations
Two day course covering all aspects of volunteer management

Dates - 6th and 13th November
Time - 10am - 4pm

The training is for any organisation that involves volunteers and will cover areas such as - involving volunteers, recruitment and selection, support, training and good practice

Strategic Management
Two day course

Venue - Volunteer Centre Angus
Dates - 9th and 10th December
Time - 10am - 4pm

This course is for staff and volunteers involved in strategic planning and includes - marketing models. LEAP (Learning Evaluation And Planning) Framework, basic priciples of strategic management and legislation requirements

Volunteer Academy

Venue - Volunteer Centre Angus
Dates - Ongoing
Time - 10am - 2pm

An eight week course for volunteers experiencing difficulties in accessing lifelong learning and employment opportunities. This will include volunteer experiences over a range of settings (bite sized volunteering) which will be complemented by a range of training to build the confidence and personal development of participants
